The papers, I believe. You know how the press is, they like to make up nicknames for everything. Look at the Heisei Holmes, for instance.

[ There's a part of him that would play this off, pretend that Conan is talking about the whole 'KID Killer' nickname and keep it at that.

He doesn't though - while Conan might not know, KID knows how much they'll go through together, both on the same team and against each other, and he has a healthy respect for the detective. ]
